As the inward light of the Holy Spirit brightens our consciences we more clearly and distinctly see the sins, inclinations, and imperfections that keep us from attaining true devotion to God. The same light that enables us to see such defects and blemishes inflames us with desire to cleanse and purify ourselves of them.
